Sex and the City


The American cable network series, Sex and the City, aired on HBO for six seasons, from 1998 to 2004. The mega-hit cable show, both a drama and a comedy, is about four professional women living in New York City and their everyday struggles with life and love. Those that watched the series when it aired as well as those that want to find out why the series was so popular will enjoy the Sex and the City DVD box set.

Sex and the City follows the lives of four distinctly different women: Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), Charlotte York (Kristen Davis), and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon). You can watch your favorite character as much as you want with a DVD box set. Fashion- and Cosmopolitan-lover Carrie Bradshaw is a writer for The New York Star newspaper. She includes her thoughts about ongoing events in her newspaper column, "Sex and the City," and narrates each of the series' episodes. Samantha Jones is the oldest of the group, and is the most confident and independent. The most conservative member of the foursome is Charlotte York, and career-minded lawyer Miranda Hobbes takes the most cynical view on men.

Through multiple storylines, the four women face issues common to today's women and develop a strong personal bond with each other. The show's popularity is due partly to the realistic portrayal of the modern-day professional woman's life.
